painting of Staithes fishing village, Yorkshire

'Staithes' kw102

In James Cook's day in the mid-eighteen century many fishing vessels' 'cobles' sailed out of this tiny harbour, now only a handful fish regularly. But the cobbled stoned streets and 'jumble' of houses and the beck cradled by the big bluff headlands still give Staithes an old-world feel.
